Nikita Koshkin was born in Moscow in 1956. He studied classical guitar with George Emanova at the Moscow Music School and continued his studies with Alexander Frauchi at the Gnessin Institute. There he also studied composition with Victor Egorov. Koshkin has not only written pieces for solo guitar, but also chamber music for guitar in the most varied of instrumentations including double bass, flute or violin and guitar, several duos, trios, a guitar quartet and a suite for mezzo soprano and guitar as well. Koshkin's music can be found in the repertoire of guitarists and ensembles the world over. Koshkin himself performs concerts regularly and has concertized in Russia, Central Europe, Western Europe, Great Britain and the United States. Nikita Koshkin lives in Moscow where he composes, performs and teaches.
