Norbert Linke, born 1933 in Steinau / Oder (Silesia), composer, music writer, Professor of Music at the Gerhard-Mercator-University of Duisburg / Germany. Composition studies with Philipp Jarnach and E.G. Klussmann (Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, HfMT). Composition courses with Boulez, Ligeti, Stockhausen. Studies of musicology (e.g. Heinrich Husmann, Fritz Feldmann), phonetics (v. Essen), and German (Pomerania, Pretzel, Simon) at the University of Hamburg (UoH), Germany. State examination in 1957 and PhD in 1959 at UoH. Music critic for DIE WELT. As a senior teacher (Oberstudienrat) in 1969, foundation of the “Music Train” at the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium in Hamburg. In 1971, Norbert Linke was appointed (along with Ligeti) to ord. Member of the Free Academy of Arts, Hamburg. Lecturer at the University of Hamburg and MHS Lübeck. Since 1972, Fachhochschule (FH) Darmstadt (Prof. a.e. FHS). 1973 - 1977 Member of the Board of GEMA (Gesellschaft für musikalische Aufführungs- und mechanische Vervielfältigungsrechte). 1976 appointment as full professor (Ordinarius) at the University of Duisburg, Germany. Founding Senator, Dean, and Vice Chairman of the Research Committee. Numerous research projects, inter alia, on the music of Silesia, on music therapy, on individual-psychological music didactics, on the development of musical creativity in childhood and adolescence, including, the creation and development of commercial popular music.
