Yangkai Lin was born in 2001 in Canton, China. He began his piano studies at the age of 4 and started learning the cello at 8. By 16, he had composed his first piece. Since 2019, he has been pursuing composition under the guidance of Prof. Dr. h.c. Wolfgang Rihm and Prof. Markus Hechtle at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe, where he also continues his cello training with Bernhard Lörcher. Throughout his studies, he has composed a number of works for various ensembles and collaborated with groups such as SCHOLA Heidelberg and the ALEPH Guitar quartet.
