Peter Jakober studied composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz from 1998 to 2006 under Georg Friedrich Haas and Gerd Kühr. His works have been interpreted by the Klangforum Wien, the ALEPH Guitar Quartet, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, PHACE, the Arditti Quartet, the Thürmchen Ensemble Cologne, the Jack Quartet and the Graz Organ Pipe Orchestra. Performances at numerous renowned festivals such as Wien Modern, the Sommer in Stuttgart, MaerzMusik Berlin, Musikprotokoll Graz and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. Stays abroad in Rotterdam and Cologne. His opera Populus won the Johann Joseph Fux Opera Composition Competition in 2018. In 2011 he was awarded the SKE Publicity Prize, in 2015 he received the Erste Bank Composition Prize, and from 2011 to 2012 he was a scholarship holder at the Akademie Schloss Solitude.
