Fredrik Zeller studied violin with Susanne Lautenbacher and composition with Helmut Lachenmann and Erhard Karkoschka at the Stuttgart University of Music and at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main. His compositions have been performed at the Darmstadt Summer Courses (1998) and the Donaueschinger Music Days (1998), among others. He has won prizes at composition competitions, including those held by the city of Stuttgart (1995), the Baden-Württemberg Tonkünstler Festival and the city of Saarbrücken (1999), and a scholarship from the Villa Massimo in Rome (1995/1996).
