Joneleit, Jens
Jens Joneleit studied in Vermillion (South Dakota) and Madison (Wisconsin) with Stephen Yarbrough, Robert Marek, Lewis Hamvas and Joel Naumann. He is particularly interested in larger formats such as music theater and orchestral works, but also chamber music, film and radio plays. His first portrait CD with chamber music was released in 2002. In 2006 he received the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation's Grant for Composition, and in the same year his work Le tout, le rien was included in the German Music Council's Contemporary Music Edition. Michael Herrschel on Joneleit: "Jens Joneleit's musical roots can be found in free jazz, which fascinated him early on, as well as in the uninhibited seriousness with which he began to study the ancient European heritage in all its contrasts and contradictions."
