Jörg Mainka studied organ with Hans Joachim Haarbeck from 1982 to 1989 at the State University of Music in Karlsruhe, as well as music theory and composition, initially with Eugen Werner Velte and from 1984 to 1989 with Mathias Spahlinger. From 1990 to 1996 he worked intensively at the ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe. Various awards, including the Music Grant as part of the Berlin Art Prize 2004. Mainka has taught at the University of Music in Karlsruhe since 1989. In the winter semester of 1999/2000 he was appointed Professor for Analysis of Contemporary Music and Music Theory at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin. He has published numerous publications on the subject of new music and music theater.
